Wouldn’t it be wonderful to play at one of the most famous golfing venues in the whole of the UK? A place where Open Championships have been won by legends such as Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson and Sir Nick Faldo? Here at the iconic Muirfield, the home of the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, you can turn that dream into a reality as you walk in the footsteps of the greats of the game.
Originally created by the legendary Old Tom Morris, Muirfield offers a good test for all abilities but remains a track that rewards good shot-making. There are 150 bunkers to think about and, as you might expect from a seaside venue, variable winds that may or may not be in a good mood on any particular day. In fact, the clockwise front nine and anti-clockwise back nine ensure differing wind directions during your round.
The historic clubhouse provides the perfect spot for unwinding after your game; it’s steeped in history and offers all the comfort you need as you analyse what went right or wrong. Given the heritage of this fabulous place, it’s difficult to imagine a golf tour of Scotland’s east coast that doesn’t include Muirfield on the schedule. There are many highlights on the course, including the semi-legendary par-3 13th, which offers a long but narrow green surrounded by bunkers to the left and right. Accuracy is the key here. Good luck!
