There are two excellent tracks to choose from, bringing with them a combination of inland holes making their way through a pine forest to seaside holes that represent the epitome of Scottish links golf.
Other options include the likes of Renaissance, a Tom Doak creation that has played host to many important tournaments. Glen Golf Club at North Berwick is a proper test, but one that’s always fair and enjoyable. Gullane has been a golfing haven for more than 350 years, and these days it has three excellent courses to offer the visitor. They say there’s something special in the air at Gullane, and it’s hard not to agree.
There are some wonderful accommodation options to be found in the region, including many that offer blissful, rural solitude. If you prefer somewhere with nightlife and an exciting, vibrant buzz, you’ll be pleased to know the fabulous city of Edinburgh is close by.
